Shift Technology is hiring a Senior Voice AI Engineer — ASR/TTS production on the Conversational AI team (Hybrid · Dublin, Ireland). This is a hands-on role in NLP & language AI—not a generic “AI enthusiast” post.

You will own language understanding, generation, and quality metrics end to end: problem framing, offline evaluation, safe rollout, and iteration from production signals. Success is measured with clear metrics (quality, latency, cost, or business KPIs)—not slide decks alone.

Dublin-based team ships voice experiences for enterprise contact centres—streaming ASR, barge-in, and low-latency TTS with strict SLAs. You bridge research prototypes and hardened services.

Hybrid with flexible remote weeks across EU time zones.

What you will do

Optimise inference graphs for real-time audio; manage VAD, diarisation, and punctuation stacks.
Instrument per-locale WER/CER dashboards and regression gates before release.
Partner with telephony teams on codec, jitter buffer, and MOS targets.
Prototype next-gen models (whisper-class, streaming conformers) with clear promotion paths.
Support customer pilots with annotation guidelines and error analysis.

What we look for

MSC/PhD or equivalent in speech/ML plus 4+ years production voice stacks.
PyTorch + C++/Python performance tuning.
Comfort debugging audio pipelines under customer load tests.

Nice to have

DSP background.
Experience with on-prem GPU appliances for regulated buyers.
