Senior ML Engineer — DevSecOps intelligence (Remote US)

GitLab is hiring a Senior Senior ML Engineer — DevSecOps intelligence (Remote US) on the AI-powered DevSecOps team (Remote · Remote, United States). This is a hands-on role in LLM & generative AI—not a generic “AI enthusiast” post.

You will own LLM features, retrieval, agents, and evaluation end to end: problem framing, offline evaluation, safe rollout, and iteration from production signals. Success is measured with clear metrics (quality, latency, cost, or business KPIs)—not slide decks alone.

What you will do

• Train and serve models for code understanding, vulnerability triage, and merge-request assistance.
• Build RAG over docs, issues, and repos with permission-aware retrieval.
• Own offline evals (quality, latency, cost) and staged feature flags for millions of users.
• Collaborate with security on prompt injection defenses and data minimization.

Stack & environment

• Python, PyTorch, LangChain, Ruby/Go service integration, Kubernetes at scale.
• Fully remote US — home office stipend and flexible hours across states.
