Avon Vision Robotics is hiring a Senior Computer Vision Engineer — manufacturing QA on the Vision systems team (Hybrid · Bristol, United Kingdom). This is a hands-on role in computer vision & geospatial AI—not a generic “AI enthusiast” post.

You will own vision, sensor, or geospatial models in production end to end: problem framing, offline evaluation, safe rollout, and iteration from production signals. Success is measured with clear metrics (quality, latency, cost, or business KPIs)—not slide decks alone.

Avon Vision Robotics delivers on-line quality inspection for manufacturing partners across aerospace, automotive, and packaging. We combine classical vision with modern deep learning and tight plant-floor constraints.

Hiring a Computer Vision Engineer in Bristol (hybrid). You will own models from data collection through edge deployment and support handover to plant maintenance teams.

What you will do

Design datasets, augmentation policies, and labelling workflows with operations engineers.
Train, quantise, and benchmark defect-detection models for GPU and edge targets.
Partner with controls teams on camera placement, lighting, and cycle-time budgets.
Instrument production lines for drift detection and hotfix rollouts.
Document SOPs for MLOps handoff and customer training sessions.

What we look for

4+ years shipping vision models in industrial or robotics contexts.
Strong PyTorch skills; familiarity with ONNX/TensorRT or similar deployment stacks.
Comfort on-site in manufacturing environments (PPE, shift alignment).
UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK occasionally.
UK working rights.

Nice to have

Photometric simulation or synthetic data generation pipelines.
ROS or PLC integration experience.
