Shopify is hiring a Senior Technical Program Manager — merchant AI on the AI programs team (Hybrid · Ottawa, Canada). This is a hands-on role in LLM & generative AI—not a generic “AI enthusiast” post.

You will own LLM features, retrieval, agents, and evaluation end to end: problem framing, offline evaluation, safe rollout, and iteration from production signals. Success is measured with clear metrics (quality, latency, cost, or business KPIs)—not slide decks alone.

Shopify empowers merchants with AI search, support, and storefront features. Technical Program Manager aligns multiple squads on merchant AI outcomes.

Hybrid Ottawa HQ: remote-friendly culture with clear program rituals.

What you will do

Define quarterly program goals tied to merchant GMV and support deflection.
Facilitate dependency resolution across ML, product, and infra.
Communicate status to leadership with transparent risk flags.

Stack & environment

Internal ML platform, Kubernetes, hybrid Ottawa O'Connor.

What we look for

5+ years TPM in product engineering.
E-commerce or platform background a plus.
