Sage is hiring a Senior Senior AI Developer — SMB accounting AI on the Copilot engineering team (Hybrid · Newcastle, United Kingdom). This is a hands-on role in LLM & generative AI—not a generic “AI enthusiast” post.

You will own LLM features, retrieval, agents, and evaluation end to end: problem framing, offline evaluation, safe rollout, and iteration from production signals. Success is measured with clear metrics (quality, latency, cost, or business KPIs)—not slide decks alone.

Sage serves millions of SMB accountants with cloud software. Senior AI Developer builds copilots for bookkeeping, tax Q&A, and document capture.

Hybrid Newcastle: bilingual UK customer base; accuracy and citations matter.

What you will do

Implement RAG over accounting knowledge with tenant isolation.
Partner with PM on eval sets for tax-season peaks.
Optimise inference cost for high-volume SMB tenants.

Stack & environment

Python, LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Docker.
Hybrid Newcastle North Park.
