Owkin is hiring a Senior Senior Backend Engineer — Generative APIs on the Core platform team (Hybrid · Toulouse, France). This is a hands-on role in LLM & generative AI—not a generic “AI enthusiast” post.

You will own LLM features, retrieval, agents, and evaluation end to end: problem framing, offline evaluation, safe rollout, and iteration from production signals. Success is measured with clear metrics (quality, latency, cost, or business KPIs)—not slide decks alone.

Toulouse engineering hub builds high-throughput APIs powering summarisation, drafting, and extraction for French public-sector and industrial accounts. Resilience and clarity beat novelty.

On-site leaning hybrid; French working knowledge expected for customer workshops.

What you will do

Implement scalable workers for long-context jobs with checkpointing and reruns.
Design schema-first contracts between gateway, providers, and downstream apps.
Tune databases and caches for bursty traffic during campaign launches.
Collaborate with SecOps on VPC peering, mutual TLS, and KMS integrations.
Maintain developer portals with usage examples and sandbox keys.

What we look for

5+ years backend Python or Go with production SLAs.
Experience integrating OpenAI/Azure/Mistral-class APIs with observability.
Comfort presenting architecture to technical buyers.

Nice to have

PostgreSQL performance tuning at scale.
Temporal/Cadence workflow engines.
