Senior AI Developer — NLP & large language models

Baidu is hiring a Senior Senior AI Developer — NLP & large language models on the ERNIE & NLP team (Hybrid · Beijing, China). This is a hands-on role in LLM & generative AI—not a generic “AI enthusiast” post.

You will own LLM features, retrieval, agents, and evaluation end to end: problem framing, offline evaluation, safe rollout, and iteration from production signals. Success is measured with clear metrics (quality, latency, cost, or business KPIs)—not slide decks alone.

Senior AI Developer (Beijing hybrid): ship **LLM applications**, **semantic search**, and **enterprise copilots** on Baidu Cloud with strict latency and compliance requirements in China.

You will work with Mandarin-heavy corpora and multilingual expansion; collaboration with research labs in Haidian is daily.

What you will do

• Fine-tune and serve LLMs for search, ads, and cloud customer scenarios.
• Build RAG over licensed corpora with content-safety filters and audit logs.
• Optimize inference on GPU clusters; profile cost per query at billion-scale traffic.
• Partner with product on A/B tests and gradual traffic ramps.

Stack & environment

• Python, PyTorch, PaddlePaddle, NLP, LangChain-style orchestration, Kubernetes.
• Hybrid Beijing Haidian; Mandarin used for team sync and documentation.

What we look for

• 5+ years NLP/LLM engineering; large-scale search or ads a strong plus.
• Mandarin professional proficiency; English for research reading.
• Eligible to work in China.
